As part of Suttonians RFC’s renewed commitment to developing our coaches and strengthening the pathway across the club, we are delighted to launch a new series of coaching clinics for all Mini and Youth coaches.
Investing in coaching was one of the areas that received particularly strong support from members during our recent Pathway 101 Town Halls. The message was clear: giving our coaches more opportunities to learn, develop and share ideas will ultimately provide a better rugby experience for every young player at Suttonians.
First Sessions – Led by Bru Amerlynk
The first two sessions will be led by Bru Amerlynk on:
Wednesday 2nd September | 7:00–8:00pm
Wednesday 9th September | 7:00–8:00pm
Suttonians RFC – Main Pitch
Wednesday 9th September | 7:00–8:00pm
Suttonians RFC – Main Pitch
Bru currently coaches our U18.5 team alongside his roles with the Belvedere College JCT programme and Leinster U17s, and has previously coached within the St Fintan’s and Clongowes schools programmes.
The sessions will combine video examples, practical drills and on-field coaching, covering key areas including passing, tackling, attack, defence, continuity and shape. The aim is to give coaches practical ideas and techniques that they can take directly back into their own Mini and Youth training sessions.
Building a Stronger Coaching Programme
These first two clinics are intended to be the beginning of a wider programme of coach development at Suttonians.
If the sessions are well supported, we plan to expand the programme throughout the season, drawing on the experience within our own club, including First Team coaches Brian and Cillian, former First Team coach Aidan Kearney, as well as bringing in outside coaches and contributors.
We would encourage all Mini and Youth coaches to attend, regardless of the age group you currently coach or your level of experience.
Please share the poster within your respective coaching groups and help us get a strong turnout for the opening sessions.
Invest in our coaches. Stronger coaches. Stronger players. Stronger club.
