IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT WE INFORM OUR MEMBERS OF THE DEATH OF JOAN LENNON, BELOVED WIFE OF DECLAN (OF 71 YEARS), ADORED MOTHER OF PETER AND FORMER PAST PRESIDENT AND CURRENT TRUSTEE OF SUTTONIANS AND PAST 1STXV PLAYER BRIAN, NICOLA, RHONA, PAULA AND DARA. GRANDMOTHER TO PAST SUTTONIANS SENIOR PLAYERS DAVID, STEPHEN, CONOR AND JOHN.
THE LENNON FAMILY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN CLOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH OUR CLUB AND HUGE SUPPORTERS OVER THE YEARS.
WE EXTEND OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHIES TO DECLAN, SONS PETER AND BRIAN (BL), DAUGHTERS NICOLA, RHONA, PAULA AND DARA, GRANDCHILDREN, GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND THEIR EXTENDED FAMILIES.

The death has occurred ofJoan M. Lennon
(née Kavanagh)Howth, Dublin / Connemara, GalwayLENNON (née Kavanagh) – Joan M. (in her 94th year) – on the 20th July 2026, after a long illness at Beaumont Hospital - (Late of The Hut, Howth, Co. Dublin and Tigín Dhó, Bunowen Beg, Connemara, Co. Galway). Sadly missed by her loving husband (of 71 years) Declan, sons Peter and Brian, daughters Nicola, Rhona, Paula and Dara and their wives Kate and Mary and husbands Niall Gaffney, Paul O’Grady and Paul Scanlon and also by her brothers John and Kevin, sisters Mary and Loretto, brother-in-law Finian Lennon (U.S.A.), her sixteen grandchildren and their partners and her six great-grandchildren and her long serving carer of fifteen years, Gemma, relatives and a wide circle of friends. May she rest in peace We also remember at this time her late son-in-law Patrick Waldron taken too soon in June 2024. Reposing in the Fanagan Kirwan Funeral Home, Fairview Strand (D03 EC52) on Wednesday (22nd July) from 3.30pm until 5.30pm. Requiem Mass on Thursday (23rd July) at 10.00am in St. Fintan’s Church, Sutton, Dublin 13 (D13 NN70) followed by funeral to St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Sutton. Family flowers only, please. Donations, in lieu if desired, to St. Vincent de Paul Conference Howth / Sutton.
