It is with great sadness that we inform our members of the passing of our beloved club member Simon English. Simon was one of those special people that lit up a room with his big smile, made us all feel so good with his warmth and his sense of humour and will be a huge loss to all of us at Suttonians RFC.
Simon, beloved husband of Susan and amazing Father to Liam ( current U18 SRFC player) and Ciara. Family was always first in Simon's life and we extend our sincere sympathies to Susan, Liam and Ciara and all Simon's extended family.
Simon was our former Club President in our Centenary year, a role that he fulfilled with great diligence and pride and always a smile. He ran our Members Monthly Club Draw for over 15 years and was always there on the last Thursday of every month to run the draw and announce the winners - he knew how to draw the crowds! A former 1STXV player he wore our jersey with such pride (even though he was an avid Munster supporter!). Simon continuously volunteered for our club; his roles included coaching his son Liam and their team from U6's to U18's (he loved organising their tours abroad), he could regularly be seen with a brush or a shovel helping to maintain our grounds or whatever he was asked to do - the answer was always a yes! A proud member of Suttonians Golf Society he rarely missed an outing!
Our club has lost too soon a great friend, a wonderful colleague, a true Suttonian, we will all miss you so much, rest in peace Simon.
