Four young Suttonians players have enjoyed a hugely successful summer representing Leinster U18s, as preparations build towards the 2026 U18 Clubs Interprovincial Series.
Jed Conroy, Eoin Garvey, Sirio Scalabrino Noone and Cian MacDonald have all pulled on the Leinster jersey during the summer programme, representing both Suttonians RFC and the province at U18 level. The achievement is particularly notable for Jed and Cian, who are members of the Suttonians 2010s squad and have been competing a year above their age grade.
In late July, the Leinster U18 squad travelled to the UK for a series of warm-up fixtures against Sale Sharks and Newcastle Red Bulls, before concluding their preparations against Munster Schools.
All four Suttonians players contributed across the programme. Jed Conroy, operating in the back row, featured against Newcastle Red Bulls and was singled out as one of Leinster's standout defenders in a physical encounter, as the home side eventually edged a tight game 12–7.
Eoin Garvey, who can operate at fullback or on the wing, represented Leinster against Sale Sharks. The Suttonians 2009 player earned the opportunity to test himself against top-level academy opposition in England as part of Leinster's preparations for the Interprovincial Series.
Fellow 2009 Sirio Scalabrino Noone featured against both Sale Sharks and Newcastle Red Bulls and made his mark on the tour with a try against Newcastle. After Michael Redmond carried with pace and drew two defenders, an inside pass released Sirio to finish the move and put Leinster on the scoreboard.
Cian MacDonald also featured twice during the programme, lining out against Sale Sharks before playing in Leinster's final warm-up fixture against Munster Schools. The back row was highlighted as one of Leinster's major performers in an impressive 24–5 victory, with his defensive work and willingness to continually put his body on the line earning particular praise.
For all four players, the summer programme has provided a fantastic opportunity to represent their province and continue their development at a high level, while proudly representing Suttonians RFC along the way.
Three Suttonians Selected for Interpro Opener
Following the summer warm-up programme, the Leinster squad has now been named for the opening game of the U18 Clubs Interprovincial Series against Ulster, with three Suttonians players included in the matchday 23.
Jed Conroy starts at openside flanker, wearing the number 7 jersey, while Cian MacDonald and Sirio Scalabrino Noone have both been named among the replacements.
It is a particularly impressive achievement for Jed and Cian, with both players coming from the Suttonians 2010s and competing a full age grade above at U18 level.
Leinster begin their Interprovincial campaign against Ulster at Energia Park this Sunday, 16 August, with kick-off at 3pm.
Everyone at Suttonians RFC would like to congratulate Jed Conroy, Eoin Garvey, Sirio Scalabrino Noone and Cian MacDonald equally on what they have achieved this summer. Representing Leinster at U18 level is a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for each player, their families, coaches, teammates and the wider Suttonians community.
We are incredibly proud to see four of our young players representing the province and wish Jed, Eoin, Sirio and Cian every success as they continue their development, as well as wishing the entire Leinster U18 squad the very best for the Interprovincial Series ahead.
